Tania Lara is a multidisciplinary artist and textile artisan whose work delves into the relationality of space. Mostly through textile work, her exploration encompasses how space is conceived, lived and constructed, with a keen focus on the interplay between bodies, identity and geography. Deeply rooted in a collaborative approach, Tania's work draws on the aspects of plurality and simultaneity that make up the world to carefully shatter space into multiplicities, thus enabling her to build and share new playful sites for imagination, encounter and storytelling. Originally from Mexico, she lives in Tiotha:ké/Montréal, where she recently completed an MFA at the Université du Québec à Montréal. In the last few years, she has presented work in solo and group exhibitions as well as participated in artistic residencies in Canada, Mexico and Colombia. Her artistic practice is interwoven with a socially committed practice, whether through education, cultural mediation or critical geography.
